I was celebrating Saint Anthony’s day with my friends on the night of June 12th when I saw the place for the first time – Saint Anthony’s day is celebrated always the night before, and all the roads from Graça, Alfama and Castelo quarters are packed and closed for traffic. There’s grilled sardines and a lot of beer and wine. I remember discovering Ó Chá and talking to the owner for one hour. I asked about the place and the big party they were having. I told them about my band and we ended up playing some nights there. The place was really cozy and I had some good times there. Sadly, it doesn’t exist anymore.
Fortunately at Alvalade quarter, Ó Chá still exists as a Tea Room for four years now. Here you’ll find different types of tea, homemade cakes and scones but also salads and good light meals. At the basement floor, there’s also a souvenir shop. The place is decorated with Chinese motifs. Ó Chá it’s a quiet and cozy tea room located near the main avenue at Alvalade quarter.
Ó Chá is a good choice for an afternoon snack or just for a cup of tea. The place has a relaxing atmosphere and is perfect for a break. Try one of seventy different teas from Asia to South America, Africa and also the unknown Portuguese tea from the Azores. Enjoy a cup of tea at Alvalade quarter!
