You kinda know something is really good when you actually can’t remember that well how life was before it. See, I have this “problem” with Padaria Portuguesa: I cannot really recall a time where I ate cake, had my espresso coffee and generally hung out with friends before this place existed, because it sort of changed my daily routine.
Padaria Portuguesa is a chain of cafes that grew wildly in the last few years, now being present in the major neighborhoods of Lisbon and even in the suburbs. It is truly one of my favorite places to hang out, the service is generally friendly, and they always have something delicious and reasonably priced for you to eat, no matter what time of the day it is.
If I had to pick only one thing to eat there (and boy, it IS a tough choice!) I’d say the “Pão de Deus” would be my pick. Brioche rolls covered in super thick sugary and coconut flavoured “icing” are something else. Hope you enjoy the place as much as I do!
