Restaurante Nepal Maya – Low price great food

With Nepalese restaurants growing like mushrooms in big cities, a small hidden place far from the center like Maya would have probably shut down in just a few weeks. Fortunately, thanks to homemade comfort food and excellent hospitality, this place will make you feel at home. It’s a cozy and informal Nepalese restaurant with cheap food, but turns out to be a good choice if you want to try something hot and spicy from the exotic Himalayan Cuisine.

Maya restaurant, with only a few seats, open since 2006, has 2 more rooms now, but it’s still cozy, clean and remains… amazingly cheap. The owners are working hard and the place is now one of the best Nepalese restaurants in Lisbon. The staff is really great and helpful and they cook with joy – you can see by the smile on their faces. There’s Vindaloo, Curry dishes and also the traditional Nepalese dishes.

Always book in advance, if you’re going there on weekends – it could be packed with anniversary parties and groups.Sometimes it could be noisy and not very relaxing if you’re unlucky. It’s definitely not a romantic place for a quiet night… except during the weekdays.

I recommend you explore the traditional exotic food while enjoying a glass of wine or Sangria. If you wake up the day after with a terrible headache, there’s one thing I’m sure of. You’ve been to Maya the night before ;).
