A laid-back atmosphere is what characterizes Estrela da Bica. A small, cosy space welcomes you. Good for a cup of coffee and a little conversation, Guacamole and a beer in the afternoon or just for dinner. Filled with locals, it is a place that mirrors its neighborhood. As Bairro Alto gets packed with the double T’s – teens and tourists – a still bohemian but more relaxed crowd can be found in the streets that surround Elevador da Bica.
The food has a homemade feel. Everyday you have only three main courses and always a vegetarian option. The entrances are quite good – the Guacamole, Pimentos Padrón, Babaganoush and Tibornas. As for the main course, the meatloaf is quite good.
At a distance from the tourist spots it is a good place to eat before a night out. My advice: if you go with a group be sure to make a reservation. The space is quite small and usually crowded.
