Vegetarian or not this place is a great spot to have a light lunch or brunch! The cosy place on the corner of Prešernova street and Erjavčeva street (they have another place at Miklošičeva street and a new one near Križanke summer theatre) is always a busy one. My favorite thing about this place is the smell of freshly baked pies, the great selection of quality food, the friendly waiters in striped aprons, as well as the comfortable atmosphere.
The common thing in Ljubljana is getting a free glass of water with your food or coffee, so the idea of putting tap water into a glass bottle and serving it in small glasses at Bazilika Bistro is a clever one. The sofas next to the door are rarely unoccupied but that’s definitely my favorite place to enjoy lunch. I like to order the spinach pie or a vegan sandwich made with hummus and avocado. A lemon pie with lavender and healthy ginger lemonade is also a must.
Eating alone you’ll have enough time to check out the latest Kinfolk magazine or observe people through the large windows out on the street passing by. It’s an absolutely non-touristy place to enjoy your meal.
