Brooklyn Hengarnica is an adorable new hangout in between two nightclubs with preferably Balkan and ex-Yugoslavian turbo folk music. Once a salsa dancing bar it changed its style to vintage, indie, alternative dance bar, hosting thematic and DJ nights, concerts, film screenings, travelogues, exchange of clothes,… Almost all of the interior design is from recycled materials or was previously used. On the wall there is a photo exhibition and likable photos you can buy and contribute for charity. A specialty of the bar is a vintage shop, where you can purchase clothes, glasses and other stuff you like. Events are pre scheduled on a weekly basis so check their facebook page for updates.
If it wasn’t for cheap beverage prices this now popular hangout would stay unnoticed to me. I spotted it once passing by and it became a weekly hangout for me and my friends. We come early in the evening, pick the best seats, wait for the right beats, drink beer and play table football (it’s free of charge). Later in the evening there’s usually a concert, afterwards a DJ after party and the night couldn’t be more perfect. If you visit it at the end of the week, you should be early because it fills quickly. Staff here really rock!
