In summer several festivals take place in Ljubljana. One is very special to me, because even though it’s really small it connects citizens and brings joy to Ljubljana and everyone who visit it. It is organized in park Tabor by community called Prostorož which means something like “placeflower”, and is visited by the inhabitants of the quarter Tabor – located just across the road from the Muzejska ploščad – as well as other citizens, visitors and tourists. The aim of organizers is to occupy public spaces, especially streets and parks and find ways to make them full of life and happenings.
Between June and September visitors can participate in several cultural, sport and educational events like fairs, toy and vegetable exchanges, garage sales, live library, music jams, outdoor cinema projections, different cuisine, etc. In the neighbouring retirement home you can play chess with pensioners every day. Monday mornings from 09:00 on you can wake up with qigong and taijiquan. Tuesdays and Thursdays are reserved for yoga classes from 19:00 till 20:30. On Friday afternoons concerts are held and on Saturdays there are whole day fairs or Arts markets. Every week you can also participate in different workshops, announced on Park Tabor Facebook page.
Visiting the park, doing sports, relaxing, talking to locals, enjoying senses of peacefulness and no hurry fill you with energy, strength and good feelings. Bet you’ll be leaving Park Tabor with a smile.
