Sports Park Stožice – Let the game begin

Sports Park Stožice or Športni center Stožice, as this complex is called in Slovenian, is more or less the largest sport and commercial entertainment venue in Slovenia. Built in 2010, this magnificent building already has a dark past – it symbolizes the downfall of big Slovenian construction companies and agony of hundreds of unpaid workers. However, apart from this, Sports Park Stožice nowadays hosts games for football and basketball club Olimpija, which are worth to see.

Visitors can also attend one of many concerts or other performing art events, which take place at Stožice Stadium. Many international artists like Leonard Cohen, Zucchero, Sting, David Guetta and Chemical Brothers already performed here, so for the visitors of Ljubljana is advised to check the program, while they stay in the area. If you will visit Ljubljana in 2013, you will be able to check glorious basketball matches – Euro Basketball 2013 is taking place in Slovenia and all the final matches will be played in Sports Park Stožice.
