One of my favourite music venues in London has to be the industry famous 12 bar club. Until recently based on Denmark Street, the only bar on a road of instrument shops, it has always been a popular haunt for rockers and punks and general music enthusiasts. Due to the recent cross-rail development the original bar has sadly shut down but we’re lucky enough to have this amazing club re-open at a new, bigger venue in Holloway. With nightly punk, folk and rock bands it’s always interesting to see who’ll be on stage. I’ve witnessed acoustic sets, hard-core punk bands, a front man wearing nothing but a pvc thong and floor length fur coat and a couple on their wedding night!
The walls of this independently owned music venue are covered in memorabilia and graffiti, there’s a couple of pool tables in the back room and the drinks are cheap. Not a place to take your mum out to on mother’s day that’s for sure but this small bar packs a real punch if you’re looking for a good night out.
