Spuntino – Italo-American Soho gem

It’s tricky being a Spotter when it comes to a place like Spuntino, because I’m selfish. I want to keep places like this all to myself. But, I’ll tell you, amongst the numerous gay bars and the infamous sex shops of Soho, lies this unique hot-spot.

Spuntino is part of a chain of my favourite London restaurants. I use the term ‘chain’ loosely; ‘group’ might be a better term, for this is not an Aberdeen Angus Steakhouse. This is a warm, friendly American(ish) bar-cum-diner that serves mouthwatering slider burgers, to-die-for mac ‘n’ cheese, moreish shoestring fries and ridiculous desserts that leave you wondering if life will ever be the same again.

I inevitably order something burgerish – the sliders really are incredible; a slab of salt beef wedged in a tiny bun suddenly becomes the best thing that’s ever happened to you.

You can’t book. There’s no telephone. The website gives nothing away. If you can’t find it, don’t expect them to help you. It gets extremely busy. You’re likely to have to queue. It might sound like hell, but it’s a little piece of heaven in the city’s busiest neighbourhood. See you there!
