ONLY OPEN FOR A FEW MORE WEEKS SO MAKE SURE TO VISIT
If you happen to find yourself in the concrete jungle of warehouse conversions that is Hackney Wick, do your best to make sure it’s around brunch time! I’ve tried everything from bloody mary’s to paracetamol but the counter cafe is the best hangover cure I’ve found thus far.
Best visited on a sunny day, do your best to get a seat outside on the floating platform with a largely unobscured view of the Olympic stadium. Canoeists and various ducks to-ing and fro-ing along this part of the river Lea, the soothing bobbing up and down and your peaceful surroundings will make sure you take your time over a luxurious brunch here.
The chalkboard menu has a good variety, from full English to homemade muesli, I usually stick to my favourite – eggs benedict. I’ve never successfully poached an egg so can appreciate how perfectly poached the eggs always are, topped with a generous helping of smoked salmon on toasted muffins with one of the cafe’s fantastic coffees, sit back, relax and soak up a rare opportunity of urban peace. I’ve recently torn myself away from my staple breakfast choice and have tried the super sweet french toast which is massively indulgent but delicious! The big breakfast is wonderful too with its herby sausages and homemade baked beans!
