It’s Tracey Emin’s local and landlady Sandra is a bit of an East London icon, so you could do worse than have a pint at the Golden Heart in Spitalfields. Emin’s neon artworks adorn the walls (as well as vintage photographs of Sandra and East End types).
The pub gets pretty busy at weekends and Thursday and Friday evenings, with the local hipster crowd spilling out on to the streets. The interior is typical of East End boozers like this – dark wood panels and velvet-lined seating adds to the atmosphere. It’s a good place to start if you’re drinking in the area, with good ales and a decent wine list.
It’s well located with plenty of other pubs nearby, but an eclectic jukebox can turn a quiet evening at the Golden Heart in to a long night…
