When I first passed by this place I have to say, I was a bit confused as to what it was about. It boldly states, “I AM NOT A CAR PARK” brightly painted across the clearly car-parkish building. Every day as I passed, I kept thinking, “well, what are you then?”. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is, in fact, a quirky, independent art centre located just next to the river Thames.
The Waterman’s Centre boasts as a movie theatre, exhibition space, restaurant & bar. The interior is stylish and vibrant with the flavourful aroma of Indian style cuisine. A shabby bar is perfectly located just outside of one the cinema screens for easy pickup. My husband and I are avid cinemagoers and this is our ideal spot to see both recent releases and the more off-cut films. Our favourite aspect of this theatre is that you get to enjoy a more local and intimate ambiance without having to pay the blasphemous ticket prices of the larger movie theatres.
