The Backstage Bar and Grill reminds me of one of those neighborhood bars you would see on Cheers or How I Met Your Mother. It’s really small and full of locals, but you can’t tell who is a regular here because everyone is treated the same.
The bar is usually packed on weekends with a crowd ranging from mid twenties to late thirties. You can find groups of girls, couples, bros out for the night and everyone in between. It’s a karaoke bar, so we all come with two goals in mind: to sing our hearts out, and be entertained!
This is Los Angeles, and Los Angeles is the entertainment capital. That means you can always expect to see a couple of people with real vocal chops who perform like it’s an audition for American Idol. You will also see crazy guys doing random songs with the goal of making everyone laugh.
The cool part is that everyone is equally supported, no matter what your vocal range is. There is no need to feel shy, and if you pick a popular song I can guarantee that the audience will sing along with you! Just make sure to arrive before 23:00 on weekends before the karaoke list fills up!
