Be warned: these stairs are no joke.
I consider myself to be in pretty good shape, but I’m huffing and puffing by the time I get to the top of these killers. The workout is fantastic though, and the view is so different from the Hollywood Hills hikes that it’s a great vista to add to your to do list.
If you go at a consistent pace, it’s about twenty minutes up the staircase, but give yourself plenty of time to stop from time to time and catch your breath.
If you’re already feeling intimidated, don’t worry: there’s a 1.25 mile path that winds up the hill, and you can take it up (or down!) if stairs aren’t your thing.
Or, if you’re just looking for an overlook with no workout whatsoever, you can drive up Hetzler Road and park in the visitors lot ($ 6) and enjoy the view without sweating a drop.
Baldwin Hills is across the city from downtown and Hollywood, so the view looks toward the hills and away from the ocean. This hill is a great photo opp, and a fantastic way to see how vast Los Angeles really is.
Once you’ve made your way down, head to downtown Culver City for a well deserved lunch break!
