This is a great place to experience authentic Mexican food.
Guisados has a simple take out setting. You can either eat the tacos at their small eatery, the adjacent outdoor patio or you get the tacos simply to go.
They have a great variety of tacos with different meats, fish and also plenty of vegetarian choices, which is not necessarily something you find a lot at Mexican restaurants. They also make their own corn tortillas and salsas.
My favorite tacos are: “Pescado”, which is a great fish taco topped with cabbage, tomato, onion and salsa, “Mole Poblano”, shredded chicken in a delicious traditional mole sauce and “Hongos con Cilantro”, which is a vegetarian taco with mushrooms and cilantro.
Don’t worry if you can’t make up your mind as to which tacos to choose. They offer a sampler with 6 mini- tacos, so you will be able to try several different ones from their menu, and more than likely you will come back and order your favorites as a normal sized taco.
Also try their homemade lemonades. The other day I had this amazing drink, hibiscus tea mixed with fresh lemonade, which was perfect and very refreshing on a typical and warm southern California day.
Guisados has four different locations. The original Guisados is located in Boyle Heights, the others are in Echo Park, Downtown LA and West Hollywood.
