A family business where Joan really does busy about in the back, Joan’s on Third has been a staple of Third Street for nearly two decades.
The interior is bustling, yet cozy, where floor to ceiling refrigerators stock-piled with fresh food surround long, wooden, family-style tables.
In addition to the cafe, which serves up breakfast, salads and sandwiches, the eatery boasts a bakery, charcuterie, grocery & deli sections.
The hash browns are my favorite — they’re to die for. So are the omelets, made perfectly fluffy to order. If you’re there for lunch instead, the short rib sandwich is a must-try, along with the chicken, bacon, and brie panini, pressed to perfection with grilled onions.
I like to order my meal of choice with a chai or soy vanilla latte and grab a spot on the patio. They’ll bring your food and drinks right to your table, and all that’s left to do is people watch and enjoy the company you’ve brought. Maybe, if you’re lucky, you’ll spot Jake Gyllenhaal – Joan’s has been one his favorite spots for years.
When you’re done eating, wander into all of the charming Third Street boutiques nearby – you never know what gems you may find.
