There are few things better than enjoying an evening of live music. What if I told you I knew about a series of summer concerts that were not only outdoors, but free as well?!
Fellow spotter Claudia has already filled you in on how fantastic KCRW is, but the KCRW Presents summer concert series is one of the best things about being in Los Angeles in the summertime. The amazing NPR-affiliate and eclectic Santa Monica-based music station brings their favorite bands to outdoor venues throughout Los Angeles all summer, and us Angelenos get to reap the benefits.
The station has seven series happening throughout the LA area, from downtown to Pasadena to Westwood. The Santa Monica Pier series will host Unknown Mortal Orchestra with Steady Holiday on September 1; the Hammer Museum hosts funky dance nights with lots of local DJs; and Chinatown will host KCRW DJs Jason Bentley + Mathieu Schreyer.
If nothing else, make sure you check out the Twilight Concert Series at Santa Monica Pier. Live music, under the stars, at the beach. What’s not to love? Happening every Thursday from July 9 through September 10, you have no excuse to miss one of these.
