Are you in the mood for a café au lait, some soufflé, paté or escargot just like in Paris, but you happen to be in LA? Go to The Little Next Door, a truly European brasserie adjacent to the restaurant The Little Door. This is some of the best French food in town.
The place with indoor and outdoor seating is cozy and chic and a perfect mix of French café sophistication and Californian ease.
It’s perfect to start your day with some beautiful and delicious pastry from their organic bakery, paired with a café au lait or have lunch while shopping or strolling up and down on 3rd street. Their artisan sandwiches, soups and salads are amazing. Try the French Onion Soup, the Vegan Raw Vegetable Wrap or their Herbed Goat Cheese & Avocado sandwich.
Their dinner menu and choices of French wine are worth trying as well. Try the delicious Moroccan Merguez Wrap with lamb sausage or the grilled Daurade Filet. Top it all off with an espresso and Crème Brulée for dessert.
Whenever I go there it makes me feel like being back in Europe and Paris. I eat the food, I hear some French, spoken by customers and the staff there, but once I am done I step back outside into the warm California sun and the streets of LA.
It’s the best of both worlds right on 3rd Street in Melrose.
