One of my favorite things to do in the city is to get out and go hiking or just simply take a walk through some urban wilderness.
Los Angeles is simply perfect for that.
I would consider Mount Hollywood one of the most beautiful trails, especially if you would like to be rewarded with a stunning 360 degrees cityview of LA at the end of it.
On a clear day the view is spectacular, especially early in the morning or after some rain. On such a day you can see the Pacific ocean at the horizon, Catalina Island, the LA skyline, the Hollywood sign, Griffith Observatory, the Valley and the San Gabriel mountains.
The short trail starts right at the parking lot of the Griffith Observatory and goes in a serpentine incline up to Mount Hollywood. It’s a great trail and a decent work out, whether you are walking, hiking or even running. If you would like to get your heart pumping and like a steep incline, then you can start the trail at the bottom parking lot, right before you drive up to the observatory.
Once at the top, take your time, relax and enjoy the breathtaking view. Or even better, bring some food and something to drink; there are plenty of benches and tables to enjoy a picnic on Mount Hollywood.
This is a small oasis surrounded by nature and rolling green hills in the midst of a bustling city.
