This is still one of my favorite spots where I take every guest who visits LA at least once to.
If you like sausage and you like beer, then you really can’t miss visiting Wurstküche and trying some of their exotic sausages and Belgian fries.
Wurstküche, which is German and very hard to pronounce, means “sausage kitchen” and it sounds something like this: “Verst-koo-shah”.
This local hipster place sells a variety of about 21 different sausage sandwiches, with very unique ingredients. My favorites so far are the pheasant sausage, the lamb sausage with Mediterranean spices and a vegetarian Mango Jalapeno sausage. But if you are in the mood for something truly exotic, you should probably pick the ones with crocodile or rattlesnake. The Belgian fries come with different dipping sauces, which are all delicious. Also make sure to grab a beer from their huge selection of Belgian and German draft beers.
You’ll have to order the food at their sausage counter to the side of the restaurant. Just look for the line-up of people on the sidewalk. The wait is usually around 10-15 minutes, depending on the time of the day. Once you order your food you will receive a number to take with you in order to proceed to the modern beer hall. Have a seat and enjoy your beer and sausage at one of the communal long tables and benches.
There’s also a location in Venice Beach. Check their website for further information and directions to that location.
