The Buho Real is one of my favourite places in Madrid to see live music. They have concerts every night of the week, and the atmosphere is great! The musicians are usually local singer-songwriters, and the quality is high. It’s a small stage, so it always feels very intimate.
I went here a lot in my first few years in Madrid. It was a great place to meet new people, and practise my Spanish, chatting and listening to Spanish singers. If you’re musical yourself you can sign up to perform on open-mic night, which is every Monday.
Usually you pay between € 5 and € 8 for the entrance and that covers your first drink too. The open-mic nights are free, and some other concerts are also free.
The decor in this bar is very quirky – you have to check out their collection of owl figurines in the cabinet next to the bar!
