Forget about what you would think of a sandwich bar, because this is the opposite of a fast food place, this is a gourmet place with non-gourmet prices. CRUMB is an ode to the sandwich: they make everything by themselves daily, from the bread (sourdough bread!!) to the sauces.
The ingredients are prime quality and the offer of sandwiches is pretty original and creative: like “Provençal chicken” (with guacamole, lamb’s lettuce and aioli), “oriental roast beef” (with arugula, cherry tomatoes, pickles and mayonnaise), “surnak sardines” (with tapenade, cherry tomatoes salad with herbs and mayonnaise) or “Iberian pork loin with cheddar cheese”.
For me they are more like very elaborate plates between two slices of exquisite bread. All the sandwiches come with baked potatoes and sweet potatoes, traditional “patatas revolconas con torreznos” or salad. This is great, cause in my case I’m a huge sweet potato fan and it is hard to find places in Madrid where they serve them.
Even CRUMB is very cozy, it is a bit small, so if you are going with a some friends I would recommend you make a reservation first!
