Ask any student in Madrid if he or she knows Don Oso, and the answer will most likely be yes. This small and cheap hamburger shop, located close to the student areas of the capital has been popular among youngsters for ages.
Don Oso is not a fancy place, though, so don’t expect to see blue cheese or teriyaki burgers, even less likely, organic or vegetarian options: this place aims to fill your tummy without emptying your pockets. Your options boil down to a small or large burger, the cheese and mushrooms extras, and eating inside or outside (standing up in either option).
When my sister was still in Madrid, she loved coming to this place, and every once in a while, especially if I’m in the area, I come here to grab a quick bite. I think that’s how you have to consider Don Oso: not as a full restaurant option, but more like a snack place. Especially on the weekends, when its extended opening hours (until 02:00) turn it into a great option when you’re partying the night away and suddenly feel the need for some non-alcoholic sustenance.
That’s not to say that Madrid doesn’t offer more elaborate burgers. If you’re looking for one, check Home Burger Bar article.

This is the best onion burgers I have ever had. There are no spkimy meat patties on these burgers and each one is cooked to perfection. If you havent tried Don’s Burgers you are missing out on a real treat. Also, each and every employee I have dealt with there have been very friendly and helpful. They make certain you are happy with what you order and have the best wait staff of any restraunt that I know of! Keep up the good work ! Thanks, Robert Moore
