Madrid’s book fair is one of my favorite cultural events in Madrid, so do not miss the chance to visit it if you happen to be in the city from May 25th – June 10th.
There are many reasons as to why I love this book event so much; of course, it has to do with its location (check the Parque el Retiro article), but not only. It is a chance to meet and greet your favorite authors. You also get the opportunity to learn about new releases or discover some old gems; you can talk to special librarians/vendors and think about their recommendations. Even greater is the fact that you can get your favorite book signed and dedicated, as book-signing sessions are organized every day.
International authors and well-known writers are invited each year and they participate in workshops and meetings to promote their culture; Romania is the guest-participant this year. You can easily join these activities by checking their schedule on the webpage. On top of all these different activities there are the discounts you can find here, so keep in mind that it can be a special moment to buy books.
The fair is open every day for 2 weeks, and on weekends it is just packed. My recommendation is, if possible, to go in the morning of any weekday. The beginning of June is also when the summer heat starts to kick in, so believe me when I say that is better to take precautions in this regard.
