Imagine you are taking a long walk at Retiro Park and stopping for lunch. Or you are visiting the area and need a snack. If the plan is to come directly for a brunch with your friends, or to have a coffee break on a rainy winter day, then look no further. For all those options, Harina is your perfect spot.
This bakery/cafeteria specializes in bread: they bake bread all day long and the options are almost limitless here. They serve natural and gourmet products mostly, and have recently added organic and gluten free products as well. The fruit juices are my favorites for hot summer days, and green tea is the best for those cold and rainy afternoons. You can choose from healthy and light snacks to chocolate and carrot cakes, but all options are worth consideration.
There are many things to like about Harina, but its location in front of Puerta de Alcala is what I love the most. The bakery is all white on the inside, with wooden floors and tables, big mirrors and large windows. Tables outside are arranged to keep the cool atmosphere of the place, and are the perfect seats for people watching. And of course, the perfect seats to enjoy Puerta de Alcalá.
Keep in mind that it could get very crowded on weekends, so if you can make it on any weekday that’s your best option.
