So have you broken your New Year’s resolution yet? Yes? Fantastic! Stop with the post workout panting and get your meat sweat on at La Canica instead.
Well, you don’t have to get a sweat going because the portion sizes are just the way I like them. Not Michelin star tiny and not food coma humongous. They rock a modern take on the Spanish kitchen and a modest run at cheap fine dining combined with some American comfort food tones to it. What you see on the picture, are the slow cooked thyme/BBQ ribs. (Probably THE best and most tender ribs I’ve ever had.) You really do get what you pay for, because the prices are not in the lower range but it’s not very expensive for what you get. They also offer a special off the menu so make sure you ask what it is before placing your order.
It has a pretty interior combined with a terrace for those who enjoy displays of public gluttony. And if you’re only in town overnight, or for one day, this place is one metro station away (Campo de las naciones) from the airport.
If you do slip into a food coma however, it’s right by Parque Juan Carlos I (check the Parque Juan Carlos I article) where you can ease your conscience with a long walk, or just pass out on the grass. Your pick.
P.S. Do NOT!! I repeat, DO NOT pass on dessert, you’ll be sorry if you do.
