“Croquetas” is the most popular tapa. That’s a fact. But when you are tired of the same frozen “Croquetas de Jamón” for € 5, an alternative such as “La Gastro-croquetería” is heaven on earth.
There are more than 10 different types of croquettes divided into two groups: “como las de mi mamá” (like my mom’s), the more traditional ones; and “con un toque creativo” (with a creative twist), like Tex Mex, Tomato & Anchovies Pizza, Liquid Cheese…and the most crazy one: Chocolate & “Sobrasada” (a raw, cured sausage from the Balearic Islands made with ground pork, paprika and salt and other spices). If someone had told me about this mix before I would have called him insane, but it’s amazing!
They even have sweet croquettes like cheesecake with blueberries, black and white chocolate, and Tiramisú.
Besides Croquettes there are Gastro-Tapas like “Mini Pizza de Pulpo a la Gallega” (Galician style octopus mini pizza) or “Fondue de queso al Curry con Croquetitas de Pollo” (curry cheese fondue with mini chicken croquettes) from € 5 to € 10 each.
So, forget about the frozen and tasteless Croquetas from Gran Vía and around, because just around the corner is the Croquettes Paradise.
