Christmas ends in Spain the 6th of January, when the Three Kings bring us our presents. But the Three Kings not only bring presents on the 6th of January, they also bring “Roscón de Reyes” -earlier every year- so we can enjoy this kind of huge brioche from early December, when important bakeries and chefs start selling theirs until the end of Christmas.
Clara P. Villalón, Master Chef contestant, did on the last week of November at La Miguiña, a small bakery in the Tetuán district that only uses sourdough to make their breads. This year this ‘Roscón de Reyes’ will be available until Easter ordering it in advance, something not very common.
It’s really difficult to find a good Roscón de Reyes, they’re usually dry, tasteless and topped with candied fruit that not everybody likes because it’s uber sweet. Clara’s Roscón de Reyes is so good that you will dream about it. It’s made with superior quality extra virgin olive oil, it’s super fluffy, not too sweet and it’s topped with amazing home-made candied oranges.
