My first thought upon entering this restaurant was: what a colorful way to greet your visitors. Every other detail in this place is full of color and personality: tables, chairs, menus, walls, glasses, napkins, plates. Everything, even food and ingredients presented at the table are like that. And that is a fun way to have a casual meal.
“Panza es primero” means something like belly comes first, so just imagine the state of mind (and body) you will be in after visiting this restaurant. The owners have other similar Mexican restaurants in the city, but my favorite one to visit is the one located in Chueca. My friends and I have come here for lunch, dinner, only drinks, birthday gatherings and more. And it has always been fun and yummy. Think of it as a small tavern with authentic Mexican flavors.
Then of course, who doesn’t love Mexican food? Or margaritas? I know you do too, so come to “La Panza es Primero” and let the food speak for itself. It is not too big, so for large groups of people make reservations in advance. One cool thing I really appreciate is that most (if not all of them) waiters are from Mexico, so they can successfully recommend what to eat. Ask them if you are not too familiar with the food. Fajitas and guacamole are my favorites but there are plenty options to choose from. Not a chance you won’t like this restaurant.
