La Tetería de la Abuela – Grandmother’s tearoom

This is a cute little place in Malasaña, perfect for a quiet evening drink with friends. They have a really good selection of teas, and I love the fact that they are served in painted metal teapots to your table so you can serve yourself. My favourite is the milky chai tea, which tastes of Christmas!

They also have some good finger food to choose from if you’re having a wine later in the evening. I like the mini pizzas, which are really thin and crispy, with really fresh ingredients.

The décor is vintage, and full of interesting items. Check out the old fashioned shop till next to the bar. There is also a funky mural design on the outside over the entrance of an elegant couple demonstrating the art of pouring a cup of tea.

A piece of advice: if you like a comfy seat, like I do, then go through to the back and hope that the sofa corner hasn’t been taken yet!
