Platea Madrid is as original as it gets. Imagine an old movie theater turned into a gourmet market and restaurant where entertainment sessions are guaranteed. It is a place to enjoy wonderful food by great chefs and feel like you are in the theater while doing so.
The menus offer typical Spanish dishes but you will also find Mexican, Italian, Peruvian and Japanese food. The restaurant on the first floor, ‘Arriba’, and the cocktail bar, ‘El Palco’ on the second floor, have the best view of the place as the tables are arranged towards the center stage. The main level, where the center stage is located, is like a giant delicatessen supermarket for the most part, where gourmet products are available on different food stands.
There are many options to try out at Platea. For example, the menu from a 2 Michelin Star chef at restaurant ‘Arriba’ or typical Spanish tapas at one of the food stands. Also you may want to try one of their funky cocktails or one of many wonderful desserts at ‘Mama Framboise’. My favorite plan is finding a table at the main level and having tapas and drinks, because if you are lucky enough, a mini concert might be happening at the center stage to make your visit even more special.
