This special tea shop will be one of your favorites if you are a tea lover. It is perfect for an afternoon snack or a weekend brunch. All pastries and cakes are prepared and served daily and even though there is a lunch menu, I do prefer the sweets. These are also available for take-out if that is your choice, so check their catalog online for a special treat to take home.
Vailima is a white open space with only a few tables and an original floor that you must photograph. It is like a checkers board in black and white. High ceilings, glass windows at the front, and an indoors patio at the back complete this tea shop. The place is elegant and classic and a bit old-fashioned but in a good way; it actually looks like a tea salon from an old European movie. During summer time there is a terrace outside, and from one of the corners of the street, you get to see Puerta de Alcalá and the front entrance of Retiro Park.
The best part for me is the fact that they offer a great variety of tea flavors, 150 in total and to choose only one would be impossible. My recommendation is to try at least one exotic combination you have never tried before, because regular tea flavors are found everywhere else. Of course, all their teas are for sale and on display as you enter the shop.
