“Tequeños que molan” -‘cool tequeños’ in English- is Waku’s slogan and to be honest I couldn’t think of a better one. This hole in the wall makes tequeños with traditional fillings as well as others with a more modern twist.
If you’re Venezuelan and feel homesick you can have them with Venezuelan cheese, of course, but if you fancy trying something different, Venezuelan or not, at Waku they also stuff them (literally) with chorizo, cheddar and bacon, onion cream, serrano ham and cheese, even white chocolate or Nutella. They offer 15 different kinds, from savory to sweet and you can eat them at the shop or take them away with you to enjoy at home.
Chueca is one of the most popular and favorite areas in Madrid for both locals and tourists alike, if you are in the neighbourhood and you want to grab a quick snack, starting at just €5 for a basket of yummy tequeños it’s a snack that most certainly will not break the bank.
They also make small arepas and empanadas and they offer 3 different menus combining the three things.
