Cow vintage is a chain, it first appeared in the city on the bus depot arcade. The stuff is fun, and it’s well worth a look. But it is since their move to Manchester’s northern quarter, in 2014, that its personality has taken form.
The shop is large, one two floors, it carries things for both men and women and even has quite a lot of shoes (which was the part that interested my son). It’s the kind of place that has the collections of similar dresses in every colour and rows upon rows of clothes vaguely sorted by type. But it’s not the clothes that get my recommendation but the décor. Upon entrance you are greeted by a cloud of illuminated doll houses, hanging somewhat precariously overhead, serving as lighting. The walls are lined with old suitcases and the mannequins in the window wear buckets over their heads.
Cow is well worth a visit, it’s quite nice to see things repurposed in the spirit of all things vintage.
