Manchester is fast becoming a great city for pizza. Recently, I’ve found myself on a mission to find the best, and ’00’ or Double Zero (named after the type of flour used in the dough) is undoubtedly competing for first place. Located on the trendy Barlow Moor Road just east of Chorlton Village, this family friendly, BYOB restaurant comes highly recommended.
The open plan kitchen boasts a beautiful tiled pizza oven (which heats to over 550 degrees C!), as well as the opportunity to see the chefs at work. The menu offers a selection of starters including crostini with toppings ranging from figs to ‘Nduja, a spicy, spreadable Calabrian sausage. When it comes to the pizzas, there’s a good range of high quality toppings. A personal favourite is the Vulcano, which comes with Salami and honey Jalapeño, though all the pizzas look delicious. Whatever you go for, beware the Chilli oil – it is hot!
