If you like all things craft and graphic design, like me, don’t miss this makers Mecca. Fred Aldous supplies the city’s artists with its materials, as well as stocking a wide selection of creative gifts.
The store is set over three floors, so give yourself some time to explore what’s on offer. The bottom two floors offer specialist materials, including haberdashery, tools and more paper than you can shake a (Pritt) stick at.
The ground floor offers a wide range of creative homewares, stationery and gifts; you can find a decent range of HAY products, hilarious and brilliant greetings cards and cardboard 3D letters, amongst other things.
It’s also the only place in Manchester with an analogue photo booth – and the only place in Western Europe with a colour version – so I can buy lovely things and have my portrait taken at the same time. The perfect souvenir!
