Grub has quickly become a Mancunian institution and its new home is absolutely wonderful. Hidden away behind Manchester Piccadilly rail station, the Fairfield Social Club, a cavernous railway arch, hosts the Grub Food Fair every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The fair offers a rotating selection of street food each day – you can find who’s serving what on their Facebook page – but in my humble opinion, half the fun is discovering what’s on offer when you get there. I like the Hip Hop Chip Shop, serving hipster fish and chips; Nasi Lemak, offering marvellous Malaysian food; and Drizzle City Bakes to satisfy my sweet tooth.
On Sundays its a strictly veggie and vegan affair – some vendors stay the same, serving luscious veggie alternatives, while new sellers move in. There’s a well stocked bar and a DJ that plays anything and everything. See you there?
