Luck Lust Liquor & Burn – A culinary road trip

The Northern Quarter definitely isn’t short of Tex-Mex restaurants, but Luck Lust Liquor and Burn is by far and away my favourite. Part of the Almost Famous family, the restaurant is said to have been inspired by a road trip from Vegas to Mexico and serves up a whole host of dirty dishes including burritos, tacos, quesadillas and, of course, Almost Famous burgers.

The décor and staff are typical Northern Quarter cool, the food is great, but the reason I like Luck Lust so much is because of its atmosphere. Some people say the service is slow, but I really like the laid-back feel, the blaring indie anthems and the intimate seating arrangement.

Luck Lust doesn’t take bookings and it gets busy at the weekend (for good reason) but you can add your name to the waiting list, head off for a drink nearby and they’ll text you when your table is ready. Though frankly I would just pull up a chair at the bar downstairs and enjoy a few cocktails before your meal. Be warned though, the Vimto absinthe cocktails go down a little too easily.

I recommend the Sunny San Diego – a grilled halloumi and sun-dried tomato burrito. As a mushroom-hating vegetarian it’s always nice to find decent herbivore options other than grilled Portobello burger. Nice work guys!
