Each year Manchester holds a gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender pride festival. Starting off as a jumble sale on Canal Street in the mid 80’s the festival now in its 26th year, is an annual highlight for the city. The festival includes theatre events, parties and exhibitions and culminates with a huge celebration on the last weekend of August. Friday 26th to Monday 29th August 2016.
A main feature of the final weekend of celebrations is the Manchester Pride parade, which sees the streets of the city centre taken over by many colourful floats and marchers. This is a loud and in your face event which attracts around a quarter of a million spectators to the streets of Manchester.
Some of the best places to watch the parade are near Manchester Town Hall and Deansgate, here you will find a good sized crowd, adding to the party atmosphere of the event.
This year’s parade takes place on August 27th and starts at 13:00.
Will Young and Heather Small (M People) will be performing as part of the Big Weekend. The parade is free, entrance to the Big Weekend stage and the village is £ 25
