The award for the campest bar on Manchester’s Canal Street has to go to Oscars. In the centre of Manchester’s ‘Gay Village’ you will find this homage to stage and screen musicals. Decorated with Oscar statues, film and stage posters this modern bar has large flat screens, that can be viewed from all seats. Flat screens that play musical clips from a variety of films. Like a camp version of a sports bar, the only sport here being high kicks and sing-a-longs.
One minute you’ll find yourself singing along to a song from Annie, the next the title track from Cabaret. This may sound like hell to some people, but it’s a great fun bar to visit. The staff are very friendly and they always have a featured cocktail to tempt you.
