A friend of mine mentioned this place at Christmas, he excitedly described eating in the aisles of a supermarket. I’ve seen this approach before, especially with Asian food in Manchester. So it took me a while to check it out.
Siam Smiles Supermarket is in a basement in Manchester’s China town, it is a supermarket so the decor is practical and cheerful as the chairs are bright orange plastic. The emphasis is really on the food which was really good spicy Thai. I had seafood noodle soup which was amazing.
The only problem is I don’t get to go as often as I would like to as I think it may be a bit too authentic for the boy so it remains a personal pleasure on the rare occasions I get out to eat on my own. One of these days when he’s in agreeable mood I’ll experiment on him and I let you know how it goes.
