The Molly House – Heart of the Gay Village

Manchester’s iconic Canal Street is famous worldwide, but it’s not all cheap booze and Britney Spears.

The Molly House, at the heart of the village, is a warm, welcoming pub serving real ales, craft beers, good food and a range of international spirits. I like to go with friends midweek when it’s quiet, or at weekends I go when I’ve done a floor show to my favourite pop hits in a nearby bar and I need a pitstop (I’m getting too old for G-A-Y, now).

Its charm is that it’s separated over numerous floors. The downstairs is good for dinner, but I like the middle floor where the atmosphere is sociable and the music is louder! There is also a diminutive terrace, heated in winter.

Try the international beers; try the tapas menu; try it on with a local. You’ll find friendly Mancunians aplenty in here.
