I’m a displaced American, all charity shops are thrift stores in my mind. However Thrift Shop is a really good approximation of an American Good Will or Savers.
The shop is working with this aesthetic, a big American flag hangs on the wall and a lot of the items must come from the States with basket ball teams logos on hats and hockey team tee-shirts. Though this is no way nearly all they do.
The impersonal rows of roughly sorted items are nearing the utilitarianism of a salvation army family store. (These are where nearly all of Rue’s clothes come from) the price labelling system is similar too, blue labels are 10, pink two for 10 and blue is 3 for 10.
It’s the kind of store where they have not tried to gentrify or oversell their wears. In short there is no lipstick on this pig, and I like that.
