Should I ever find myself on death row, which I both doubt and fear in equal measure, I should like my last meal to be something from West Corner’s delicious deli-diner menu.
In the heart of Manchester’s hip Northern Quarter lies this diner gem. The decor takes inspiration from Californian diners, but adds a high-end restaurant twist.
Each time I go in I promise myself I’ll try something new, but I inevitably order the Reuben (a classic!) or a French Dip (a mouthwatering brisket sandwich with French mustard and a pot of dipping gravy). They also serve burgers, ribs, steaks and salads, although why you’d order a salad in a heaven-sent place like this is beyond me.
West Corner’s weekend breakfasts and brunches are celebrated – I’m particularly fond of the Full English or something with pancakes. Whatever you order, I’d highly recommend you washing it down with a breakfast Martini. Go on, treat yourself.
