Reforma, Amsterdam, Francisco Sosa… Yes. We have a lot of charming streets all over the city. But one that is usually left out is Durango, a street that is, at times, busy and lively, full of restaurants and bars, but at other times is quiet and peaceful.

I love walking along that street starting around La Cibeles, an area where you will find a lot of great places to have a drink or eat something next to the replica of the fountain from Madrid. In this first part, restaurants, bars, and cafes are more predominant, but, little by little, the noise is left behind and one is able to enjoy the untroubled environment that prevails.

I find this street even more enjoyable on Sundays, when it is part of the weekly stroll that takes place in Reforma so, at least for some hours – from 08:00 to 14:00 – these streets are car-free, just open for pedestrians, cyclists, and skaters. If you are more of a night person than a people person, then go late at night. The trees and streetlights turn this street into the perfect walk.
