In the Center of Tlalpan –at the south of the city– lies La Jalisciense, a canteen with a rich history worth remembering in the company of some good drinks.

La Jalisciense opened in 1875, which makes it is one of the oldest canteens of the city, although it is not in Downtown, as you would expect from such a place. It is located right in the middle of the action, that is, between stalls of tianguis and some cultural festival that could be happening in the kiosk of the square.

Although the drinks menu (mainly tequilas) is very wide, I strongly recommend you to focus your attention on the tortas, which are the specialty of the house. Also, it is very worthy to ask for the steak tartare. Let the beers run and engage in conversations with those that prefer to avoid the places where music is soaring.

At the end, do not hesitate to enjoy the Center of Tlalpan and marvel at its architecture and its temporary stillness. Great plan for a Friday!
