Although the locals would avoid most bars and restaurants around Milan’s landmark, the Duomo, as the large majority are tourist traps, it has its charm to have a drink with a view of this architectural highlight.
One of the places I like the most, is Signorvino, located at the very Duomo square (in summer, a spot on their downstairs terrace is priceless, otherwise the store and inside tables are located on the 2nd floor – still with a nice view). The place is decorated with style yet it’s unpretentious and relaxed. You’ll find a wine store with the possibility to buy to take home but also consume them on the spot. The great thing: you pay the same price for taking them away and consuming them there and there is always a great daily promotion so look out!
I always like to have a bite with my wine and their food, especially the snacks, are highly recommended. My absolute favorite is the cheese platter, a selection of 6 high-quality Italian cheeses and Signorvino Crostoni, bread with different delicious spreads.
With already several places around Italy, they have proven their concept to be not only popular with me. The wine selection is tremendous, all neatly sorted by region which provides a great opportunity to explore and learn about (and, of course, drink) the many different wines Italy has to offer.
Do book ahead, especially during peak hours from 18:00 onwards.
