If you’re interested in the nightlife of a city, there are some places you always have to have a look at. In the case of Milan, one of these places is Q21, a hot spot of the Milan clubbing scene. It’s located in via Padova, just a few seconds from the Loreto metro station.

The are two rooms, interesting parties and sometimes it kicks on till the morning with afterhours. The prices are average for the Milan clubs (€ 10 – € 15), sometimes there is a special guest but it’s likely that the place gets crowded even without some international, crowd-calling deejay.

There are veejay performances during the night too, and some installation as the curious one in the picture. The place is not that big so the atmosphere is friendly and easygoing. Usually it’s open on Friday and Saturday but the best thing is to take a look at their Facebook page to know what’s goin’ on.

Well here I could write numerous words, working for ages, because in the past years I’ve probably been to Circle more times than all the times I’ve been to all the other Milan clubs added together.

Let’s make it clear from the start, it is not an easy place, and also it’s not easy to get in because of the many people queueing outside every night, unless you get there really early (at 23:00) or in your group the women have the majority. Besides that the music is great, more of the U.S. style and the environment is definitely sparkling and international and there’s not one single time where I felt it wasn’t worth it when I left the club. Plus: no entry fee for the club.

The Circle Lounge & Restaurant is not just a club though, they serve lunch from 13:00 and aperitifs and dinner respectively from 19:00 and 20:00, the food is pretty refined and aware of vegetarian needs. The club shuts down at 03:00 so it’s perfect to hang out when you don’t want to spend the entire night out and you’re looking for a more alternative discotheque.

Whilst some may mourn the loss of Le Trottoir from the original Brera zone, this bar is alive and kicking in another part of town in a very historic building next to the new Porta Ticinese (one of the city doors).

It’s really centered perfectly in the heart of Milan’s nightlife. It is a historical meeting point for the artistic scene but on the weekends it is more of a live music venue with energetic, live music usually of the funk and soul genre. 

On the second floor, a DJ plays dance/top 40 whilst the outdoor seating area can be great for a little peace and quiet. It can get a little crowded on the weekends but it’s a good place to pick up the pace a little after a quieter drink in the nearby Navigli area. You will find people from all walks of life here!
