Bird Bar is one of the newest spots in town and full of surprises. Conveniently located at the corner of Notre-Dame and Saint-Martin Streets, Bird Bar’s layout and tall windows make it one of the most welcoming restaurants in Montreal. Are you a fan of the counter a.k.a a bar at a restaurant? I sure am. The bartenders are all super friendly and helpful with the menu and the wine list.
Food has to be ordered if alcohol is consumed so I had a look at the menu. Let’s set things straight: Bird Bar is a deep fried chicken restaurant. It took me a slight moment to figure it out, not that the name of the institution doesn’t make it clear enough, but my attention got caught by the entire menu. The first thing that caught my attention was the oysters with popcorn chicken, then I noticed the chicken wings, the cod croquettes and the salad selection. As if this wasn’t enough, delicious vegan and vegetarian options are offered and recommended by the staff.
I went for the cod, which was of course tasty. I highly recommend going with friends and ordering portions to share. One of the owners also passed by with some chicken wings and ohhh were they good. I went back the next week for the grand opening and the vibe was superb.
Tip: I would recommend making a reservation.
